How to Make Ginger Garlic Green Beans Recipe

Green beans are generally used in a lot of Chinese and Thai dishes and this recipe is a perfect blend of both these flavours.  

Definitely a go-to-recipe when you have to make something quick and tasty, without spending much time in the kitchen. It is best served as a side dish with pork roast and garlic bread. Now, who would want to say no to that!

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 25 minutes (for Green beans excluding chicken broth)

Serves: 2-3 people

Ingredients:

For Ginger Garlic Green beans:

  • 500 grams of fresh green beans
  • 1 tsp Dabur Hommade Ginger paste
  • 1 tsp Dabur Hommade Garlic paste
  • 1 tsp Dabur Hommade Ginger Garlic paste
  • 5-7 cups of chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • Red pepper flakes to taste
  • Sea salt and pepper to taste

For chicken broth:

  • 10-12 cleaned and finely cut pieces of chicken
  • 2 medium-sized diced carrots
  • 2 finely chopped onions
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 celery ribs with leaves (cut into chunks)
  • ½ tsp of dried and crushed rosemary
  • ½ tsp of dried thyme
  • 7-9 peppercorns (black pepper)
  • 1 litre cold water

Method:

To prepare Chicken Broth:

  • Place all the ingredients mentioned above (for chicken broth) in a pan
  • Slowly bring the ingredients to a boil and then reduce the heat
  • Simmer the concoction, uncovered, for 3-4 hours. Skim all the foam from time to time to get clear broth at the end of the process
  • Remove all the chicken pieces from the broth and separate the chicken from the bones. Discard the bones and put the chicken back into the broth
  • After few minutes, strain the broth and season it with salt and pepper as per taste
  • You can refrigerate this broth for almost a moth and use it to make soups and other gravy recipes as well

To prepare Ginger Garlic Green beans:

  • Wash the green beans and clean them properly to remove all the dirt and impurities
  • Trim the ends of the beans and chop it into small pieces of 2-2 ½ inches
  • Add 5-7 cups of the previously prepared chicken broth in a pan and bring it to boil
  • Steam the beans in the broth for 4-5 minutes till they are tender. This will add flavour and texture to the beans and make them taste extra delicious when served
  • Once the beans have been cooked through, drain all the additional broth from the beans and keep them aside to cool

To prepare the beans:

  • Heat 2 tbsp of olive oil in a pan
  • Add 1 tsp ginger paste, 1 tsp garlic paste, and 1 tsp ginger garlic paste in the pan and sauté it for 2 minutes
  • Add the steamed beans to the pan along with red pepper flakes, salt and crushed pepper as per taste
  • Top with soy sauce and let the beans cook till they have become crispy
  • Take the pan off the heat and transfer the beans to a serving dish
  • Garnish with sesame seeds for extra crunch
  • Serve while it’s still hot

 Tips:

  • If serving with rice, you can add some chicken broth to the beans while frying them to add gravy
  • This dish tastes best when served with pork, chicken, or beef roast and garlic bread
  • You can also top the dish with sesame seeds
